Last week, Melaleuca came to BYU to sponsor a Global Supply Chain Case Competition. After a week of vigorous analysis and case preparation, 10 undergraduate teams presented their recommendations to 3 Melaleuca executives. 3 teams advanced to finals where they presented again, vying for team recognition, networking opportunities, and price money. Afterwards, GSCA held a luncheon to announce the winners and allow for open networking time between all the teams and the Melaleuca judges.
This was a great experience for everyone involved, applying supply chain knowledge and analytical skills to a real-life problem. This case included perspectives from operations management, quality, and logistics, and ultimately was a smashing success. We plan to hold another supply chain case in winter semester 2020 as well so be sure to keep an eye out!
