SUCCESS: 2017 Annual GSCM Alumni Conference

October 5 and 6 was the Annual Global Supply Chain Management Alumni Conference! Thanks to our amazing and supportive GSCM Advisory Board shown below, this packed, two-day event was a total success!

We started the conference with an Alumni dinner recognizing the global supply chain achievements of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our special guest speaker was Paul Hansen, the Director of LDS Temporal Affairs in Asia, who shared with us the importance of global supply chain management within the Church.

The next day began with a welcome from Dean Lee Perry, GSCM Department Chair Dr. Tom Foster, GSCM Program Director Dr. Scott Sampson, and GSCM Advisory Board Chair Frank Crespo. Shortly after, we were able to hear from Chad Lewis, NFL Super Bowl champion and BYU Associate Athletic Director.

Many recruiters came to our Global Supply Chain Career Fair specifically recruiting for GSCM students. Both the students and recruiters called the Career Fair a success!

Meanwhile, we separated into various breakout sessions with representatives from companies such as General Motors, Facebook, the NMFTA, and Adobe as well as sessions with professors from our very own GSCM MBA program and the BYU Law School. They spanned topics from cyber security to healthcare to AI to service towards others.

We are ultimately very enriched with all of the sessions and are grateful for each presenters’ time and efforts they put into their sessions!

To wrap it all up, we were fortunate enough to hear from LDS Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé, who spoke on Doing Good through Global Supply Chain Management. He spoke of four guiding principles to help us as we continue our career paths in supply chain management. His words inspire us to live gospel principles every day throughout our careers in whatever we do.

So, to everyone that participated in any way in our Annual GSCM Alumni Conference – thank you. We love reuniting with fellow students and alumni of the GSCM program. A special thank you to our Advisory Board members who help us maintain the GSCM program here in the Marriott School. We wouldn’t have done it without you!

We hope to see you all again next year!
