Class: Quality Management (GSCM 402)

Writer: Natalie Blackwell

Quality Management is an engaging class, created to enable students to effectively design and improve processes. As we ensure that processes meet or exceed needs and expectations, we positively impact individuals and organizations in all industries. Dr. Gardner’s class is structured around acquiring a practical toolbox of quality management tools and principles, which are then applied in the context of both real business scenarios and personal improvement.

In-class time is well utilized to complete interactive activities that bring these quality principles to life. From the first week of class, students are immersed in learning as they design model Lego® cars. Throughout the semester, the fun continues as students work in teams to create paper airplanes, launch catapults, shoot Nerf guns, etc. These activities, combined with a comprehensive team and individual projects generate a working knowledge of quality management that students can implement in the workforce as well as in their personal lives.
