This past week, we were excited to have our Global Supply Chain Management Opening Social. We were honored to have Terry Grant as our keynote speaker. Terry talked with us about the importance of networking within the business field.
Here is a quick summary of what Terry spoke about:
1. Differentiate yourself: be a yellow jersey
2. Network like crazy, what boards should I get on?
3. People want to do business with people they know and trust
4. The relationships you make down here will pay dividends on when you are up there
5. I love to go to lunch with competition, I say few words then I shut up and let them talk!
6. Building relationships and trust with other people, adding value to them.
7. Always be thinking how can you add value to the people you do business with.
8. The key to networking is follow-up
9. Add notes in contacts section: brain dump.
We were very happy with the turn out from pre management students and students that have already been admitted into the GSCM core. Ethan Forbes, a student in the 2016 GSCM core said, “The event was a great place for students looking to apply to the GSCM core to apply what Terry had spoken about and practice networking with other students and professors.”
Thank you to all that made this event possible.
