The Undergraduate Global Supply Chain Student Association (GSCA) hosted its first Women in Supply Chain event on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Students were joined by Beth Whited, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer at Union Pacific who spoke about Keeping Your Career on Track: Keys to Success. The event was attended by a large group, and many of the attendees were prospective Global Supply Chain Management students.
Whited’s remarks included the following:
- Supply Chain people can’t say “can’t,” they have to figure it out. It is ultimate problem solving.
- Take risks. Everybody needs innovators. you have to take risks to make things happen in Supply Chain.
- Focus on things that matter and that you can control. You can’t control what already happened and you can’t control people.
- Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. You can’t assume that you are always going to win.
- Succeed as a team. you have to value the teams you work on. No one succeeds alone.
- Value diversity.
- Invest time in yourself and in your family. Be careful that work isn’t everything.
