Each year, students get the opportunity to interact with members of the National Advisory Council (NAC) during the NAC Conference.
This year, the Global Supply Chain Management students and faculty shared a lunch with NAC Members. They also had the opportunity to hear from a panel of NAC members during a Q&A session. We are grateful for the inspired words and wisdom from this year’s panel: Frank Crespo, Lee Daniels, and Nathan Savage. (This and additional biographical information can be found here.)
Frank Crespo
Frank Crespo is vice president and chief procurement officer of Caterpillar Inc. with responsibility for the Global Purchasing Division. He has responsibility for leading Caterpillar’s global procurement strategy and the company’s relationship with its supply base. He previously worked for Honeywell International Inc., where he was vice president and chief procurement officer. Frank has more than twenty years of high-tech industry and military procurement and business experience. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and his MBA from Harvard Business School. Frank has been a member of the NAC since 2003.
Lee Daniels
Lee Daniels is a retired partner at TPG-Asia. He currently is a professor at the Marriott School, where he teaches international business and international marketing. He is also on the board of directors of the Ensign Group. He was released in 2011 as president of the Japan Sapporo Mission. Previously Lee was president of Newbridge Capital, Japan Ltd.; president and representative director of Jupiter Telecommunications Corporation; and president and CEO of AT&T Japan. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from BYU and his master’s degree in international business from Sophia University in Tokyo. Lee has been a member of the NAC since 1997.
Nathan Savage
Nathan Savage serves as a director of Savage Companies and as executive vice president and group leader for the Oil & Gas Solutions Group. Nathan joined Savage in 1995 and served in operations, finance, business development and most recently as leader for the Corporate Development and Refinery Solutions Groups. Before joining Savage, Nathan worked with a venture capital group as operations manager for a wireless telecommunications company. Nathan earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from BYU and his MBA from West Virginia University. He has been a member of the NAC since 2016.
As always, the event was a success. Those on the panel gave advice on how to be successful business people and how to balance career and life goals. Students agree that it was an inspiring event.
We are grateful to the NAC members and for their support and involvement with the Marriot School of Business. We look forward to further interactions with these great people.
