GSC Intro class consults with bicycle manufacturer

Our Introductory GSC course for pre-management students may be rudimentary, but that does not preclude it from hands-on application and applying GSC principles.  In March a group of students and Professor Simon Greathead met with Howard Silvermen, the Director of Logistics for Specialized Bicycles, a manufacturer of high-end bicycles.  The company was experiencing challenges in sourcing bicycle parts from Asia involving managing shipping quantities and costs.  The students had a month to analyze the situation and prepare a report for the company.  Mr. Silverman was pleased with the findings, stating, “They did a great job and hit everything I wanted them to hit on.  There was a lot of data, and they made it speak the right way. They put good analysis into their work. I thought that was pretty cool because this is a huge project to work on as students in a class.”
